What Are Measuring Tape Tool

A tape measure or measuring tape is a flexible ruler used to measure size or distance.It consists of a ribbon of cloth, plastic, fiberglass, or metal strip with linear-measurement markings. It is a common measuring tool. Its design allows for a measure of great length to be easily carried in pocket or toolkit and permits one to measure around curves or corners. Today it is ubiquitous, even appearing in miniature form as a keychain fob or novelty item. Surveyors use tape measures in lengths of over 100 m.

1.Tape Measure Uses

Measuring tape measures the object‘s size  , steel tape measures are the most common measuring instruments used to measure length, widely used not only in factories but also in all walks of life and even in homes. If its purpose can be divided into three types: ordinary steel tape measures, used to measure the length of the object, deep-measuring steel tape measure, mainly used to measure the depth of the liquid, steel circumference, to facilitate the simultaneous measurement of the rim and diameter of cylindrical objects, primarily for measuring the width and circumference of the object.

2.How Do You Measure With A Measuring Tape?

(1) Check The Appearance

The ruler surface of the steel tape measure should not be uneven and distorted, the two edges of the ruler band must be smooth, there should be no fronts and burrs, and the ruler should be evenly wide. The checkbox should be kept at a right angle and must not be visible. The surface of the band should have an anti-corrosion layer, and to be reliable, smooth, and smooth, with no bubbles, peeling and folding, no rust, scratches, and other defects.

The strip of the steel tape measure should be uniform, transparent, and vertical to the edge, without substantial or missing lines.

(2)Measurement Method

A:Before measuring, check the tape measure band, stretch freely, no cataloging;

B: Measure the size. Hook one end of the measured surface with a ruler hook, slowly pull out the steel tape scale, and then the level of the band close to the end of the measured surface, the eye line of sight, and the scale of the scale vertical read out the measurement.

3.How To Read A Metric/Measuring Tape Measure

Understand that a metric tape measures use centimeters instead of inches. Each centimeter is divided into ten sections called millimeters. All you have to do is read the larger lines (centimeters) and then the number of millimeters of the last centimeter if the object does not measure an exact number of centimeters.

Align the first significant mark of the metric tape measure with the bottom edge of the book. Stretch the tape to the top edge. Read the number of whole centimeters, and if the book is longer than the last full centimeter, read the number of millimeters beyond the last whole centimeter necessary to complete the length of the book. Write the number of centimeters, add a decimal point, and write the number of millimeters. If the book measured 9 centimeters and 2 millimeters, we would say the book measures 9.2 centimeters.

4.Precautions For Use

(1) Wipe the strip of the steel tape measure.

(2) Loosen the ruler of the steel tape, so that the band slowly returns to the box.

(3) Pull out the ruler belt, should be slow and uniform speed, not allowed to force too strong, trampling, bending.

(4) Strictly by the measurement equipment cycle verification plan sent for inspection, verification of qualified can be used.
